I
would like to send out my families sincere thank you for your great
product. My husband and I have four children and three of them have
juvenile diabetes. As a parent our biggest fear is going to bed
at night and wondering which child is going to have a severe low
blood sugar reaction. All of the kids are on an insulin pump now
and keeping their blood sugar in a normal range is of great importance.
By maintaining this normal range we have an even higher risk for
these night time lows. Since my two girls have been using the sleep
sentry monitors. I am very happy to say that we have had no low
blood sugar reactions. I actually feel really good when that monitor
starts beeping at 2:00am because I know that my child is only in
a mild low instead of a severe low and possibly having a seizure.
The monitor usually detects my 6 year old when she is around 60.
I would like to say thank you with all of our heart for all that
you have done for our family and for allowing my husband and I to
get a better nights sleep.

The
Sleep Sentry is awesome. I really love it. The batteries do not cost
much and they are easy to replace. I truly believe it is a life saver! |

On
one occasion, my wife who gives me a cup of orange juice when I get
a nighttime insulin reaction was unable to treat me as I was completely
out of it. She called 911, and after giving me an intravenous solution,
I came to and was completely confused as to what was going on. After
recovery I was presented with a bill for the 911 call for $435.00.
After this
I purchased a Sleep Sentry for $349.00, which was less that the
911 call. I have been very satisfied with it and my wife is able
to sleep more restful as well. Since getting it, the alarm is loud
enough to wake me up before it goes too low. I recently had a blood
sugar at 49mgs.

I
decided to purchase a Sleep Sentry because I was experiencing insulin
shock between 12-3 AM where I would become unconscious approximately
every other night for over a 6-month period. The Sleep Sentry has
saved me from serious consequences many times. The alarm goes off
while I am still capable enough to help myself by drinking either
milk or orange juice to increase my blood sugar from 25 to a safe
level of 70 - 100. My body does not give me warning that my blood
sugar is low, so I am very thankful for the Sleep Sentry. It is a
LIFESAVER. |

I
have used the older version of the Sleep Sentry since 1993. I am presently
using the revised version since December 2001. I am happy to own the
Sleep Sentry because it is such a comfort to me. I no longer require
the glucagon shots at night. If I have an attack due to low blood
sugar the alarm awakens me in time. |

New and
Old Sleep Sentry
|
I
have been on insulin for 40 years. I used the old model of Sleep Sentry
for many years. I now have the new model. The alarm is louder that
the older model. I LOVE MY SLEEP SENTRY! |

The
Sleep Sentry has been a Godsend for my husband. Many nights he would
wake up and feel my arms or forehead to see if I was perspiring and
going into a reaction. I have not had any very low blood sugars
since I got it because it alarms soon enough where I can get something
to eat right away. |

"Thank
You" doesn't begin to convey our appreciation for your Sleep
Sentry. After experiencing many nighttime hypoglycemia episodes, one
sending me to the hospital for two days, my husband and I now rest
assured that the Sleep Sentry will alert us to a drop below normal
in my blood sugar in time for it to be treated without a serious problem. |

I
have been a diabetic for over 46 years and am now 56 years old. After
35 years of diabetes I developed Autonomic Nerve Damage, which means
I was unable to determine in advance when I was developing a low blood
sugar. I no longer automatically wake up at night to take something
for my low blood sugar. I slept through the night and would go into
shock. I started using the original Teledyne Sleep Sentry when it
first came out on the market in 1988. I wore it every night 7 days
a week and it has saved my life more times than I can count. Then
the last time it broke I was not able to find a replacement, as the
company was no longer in existence. |
| For
several years, I was left to the care of my significant other watching
over me at night to check and see if I was going into shock. When
I found out about the new Sleep Sentry I contacted them immediately
and purchased the watch. I am now back to wearing it 7 days a week
and am able to sleep with confidence that I will wake up in the morning.
My fiancé is finally able to get a good nights rest. Over the
last few years, he has had to call 911 as he would find me so low
and was unable to bring me back to consciousness. They would have
to give me glucose IV and stabilize me. It has taken a toll on my
heart and my condition. Thanks to Sleep Sentry, my life is back under
control and I will live longer because of the wonderful watch. Thank
you so very much. |

I
have been using an earlier model of the Sleep Sentry on and off for the
past 14 years. Also, I am on a insulin pump and I have had problems with
my blood sugars crashing during the night and your product has all but
eliminated that from happening again. I belong to a group of diabetics
most of whom are on the pump, or multiple injections. Thus, I would like
to bring your new product information to the attention of the other group
members.

My
name is Barry Morgan, and I am Registered Pharmacist ( I used to be a
Registered Hereford) who has had Class One diabetes for 39 years. I have
always been a very In-Control guy, taking extreme caution to keep my diabetes
under control. However, I have always walked blood sugar - low end line.
Being very active, I've had to pay much attention to controlling my Blood
Sugar during sports. In addition, my greatest challenge has come from
Nocturnal Hypoglycemic incidents while I've been asleep. Over the years
I have had many very close calls with Low Blood Sugar while asleep. I
have had several occasions with the Near Death Experience. I can think
of better ways to enjoy yourself. About 15 years ago I started using the
Sleep Sentry (the Old Sleep Sentry) in order to cope with my nocturnal
hypoglycemia. This Warning Devise has changed my life and has made it
much easier for my wife and I to handle Low Blood Sugar difficulties.
The warning signal is consistently accurate and will waken anyone upon
sounding. Using this warning system is imperative for anyone subjected
to nocturnal Low Blood Sugar levels. Adults as well as Children will benefit
from this alert , and parents will be able to respond to a child's low
blood sugar difficulties while he or she is asleep. Don't roll the dice
when dealing with Nocturnal Low Blood Sugar. It is most assuredly a No
Win situation that can easily be prevented.

A Fan of the Sleep Sentry®
I read the GlucoWatch
article in Diabetes Interview with interest, however, I was absolutely
shocked at the costs ($250 to $350 for the watch and $4 to $5 for each
12-hour sensor pad). I’ve been using a Sleep Sentry®
for at least 10 to 15 years and it has served me very well. The Sleep
Sentry® alerts the user to an increase in sweat,
which usually accompanies hypoglycemia. It doesn’t use separate sensors
like the disposable pads that the GlucoWatch requires. It runs on batteries
and is meant to be worn by insulin-dependent people while they sleep.
The Sleep Sentry® looks like a watch. This is
my usual procedure if the alarm on the Sleep Sentry®
goes off: if my blood sugar is 40 to 45 mg/dl I take 50 g of carbohydrates,
reset the Sleep Sentry® and go back to sleep.
My wife is also in the habit of listening for the alarm because sometimes
I become semiconscious when my sugar is too low. The Sleep Sentry®
has saved my life on several occasions. I think I paid less than $175
for it in 1986 and it has worked like a charm. I change the battery once
a year. I live in fear that I will not be able to get a replacement if
it breaks down. It’s hard enough being a diabetic without having to incur
heavy costs for new technology.
